Wide-field view of the star-forming region around the Herbig-Haro object HH 46/47
This wide-field view shows a rich region of dust clouds and star formation in the southern constellation of Vela. Close to the centre of the picture the jets of the Herbig-Haro object HH 46/47 can be seen emerging from a dark cloud in which infant stars are being born. This view was created from images forming part of the Digitized Sky Survey 2.

Yet another beautiful feature of the Orion nebula, the Orion bullets, shown above, are dense clouds of ionized iron, blue in the photo, traveling at hundreds of kilometers per second, much faster than an actual bullet. They leave a trail of glowing hydrogen gas as they fly though space.Image Credit: GeMS/GSAOI Team, Gemini Observatory, AURA Processing: Rodrigo Carrasco (Gemini Obs.), Travis Rector (Univ.
